Goodie Bag Marketing

Businesses promote their products or services in a variety of ways. Using goodie bags filled with promotional items is often a fun way to reach out to potential customers. Goodie bags are used under a variety of circumstances. They can be put together on a budget or made more expensive. The route taken when designing a great goodie bag is entirely up to the business and the audience they are aiming for.

Before deciding on what items to put in the goodie bag, think about where the bags are distributed and who is receiving them. Goodie bags are popular giveaways at trade shows, job fairs, and sponsored events. These different venues will attract different audiences. For example, at a job fair people are seeking jobs while at trade shows people are seeking services to purchase. Considering the audience helps to decide what kind of budget you’ll need to purchase the goodies.

Budget Ideas

Preparing goodie bags on a budget is simple. Many small and cheap items are purchased in bulk to include in a goodie bag. Some of these items include pens, key chains, notepads, magnets, bookmarks, toys, candy, and mints. The business name and logo should be printed on the items. A small bag is assembled to include a few things and passed out to those interested. Additionally, these items can be handed out separately.

Coupons or Contests

To sweeten the goodie bag, add coupons or the possibility of winning a contest. Consider printing out many coupons for a discount on an item, a free item or service or another promotional offer. Including that item in the goodie bag will increase the chances of the recipient purchasing something from your business. If the goodie bags are passed out at a one-time event, consider holding a contest. A ticket, or some other form of identification, is included with each goodie bag. At the end of the day, a drawing is held for a prize. The prize can be anything from a gift card to an actual gift not related to the business, such as an MP3 player.

Offering a luxury goodie bag is possible with a large budget. If the business is sponsoring an event, this type of goodie bag is often provided to the attendees. Luxury goodie bags are generally not filled with promotional items. Instead, the goodies are items that the recipients can use for leisure. Depending on the budget, luxury items may include watches, makeup, gourmet food items, jewelry, clothes, handbags, gift cards or electronics. The possibilities are virtually endless. When designing a luxury gift bag, consider placing the sponsor’s logo on the bag itself. Also, try to condense the items around a congruent theme. For example, if a business sponsors a breast cancer awareness event, everything in the goodie bag would be pink.
